Liability of Occupiers
The liability of occupiers for damage to a neighbour's property
Description
The session considers the common claims events such as damage caused by fire, escape of water and contractors on someone else’s property and how and when an occupier might be liable for the damage in negligence, nuisance or under legislation. Turks also discuss potential liabilities arising from some less often considered events such as support of land, tree disputes, and escape of chemicals and looks at some interesting real life cases. This session will be helpful to any broker advising an insured in relation to claim circumstances that affect surrounding properties by providing an understanding of the basics of how and when that liability might arise.
